It’s finally March and we can celebrate the advent of spring, I
know that I for one am looking forward to the longer days, and
the shorter nights, well that just comes with the territory.
Although we can count on the spring weather to be unstable, I
still look forward to the budding trees, the blossoms and the
new sprouts of grass as they break through the mud. March finds
us just getting into our heavy calving and this year our
synchronization programs really worked, we have a quarter of the
herd calving in a consecutive two day period. It’s going to a
little crazy, but I can’t wait for all of the new arrivals.
Spring also brings with it the
entrance of our own Western National Angus Futurity scheduled
this year for April 24th, 25th and 26th. All of the indicators
are once again pointing to us having another special event.
Entries are already arriving in the mail each day, and our
superb headquarters the Grand Sierra Resort has conveyed a surge
of reservations have been recorded. And “Oh Yes We Did” once
again sign up our very own Cara Ayres and Beth Schreiber for
another fun evening of musical repertoire that will guarantee to
pull at your heartstrings, tickle your funny bone and set your
toes to tapping. Make way for some real fun and call the JDA
office today to reserve your show tickets. This event serves as
a very special fund raiser for our show.
Speaking of tickets, the Western
National Angus Futurity is once again holding their Draw Down.
This is the main fund raiser for the Futurity and always has
lots of winners and many smiles. Sharing this page with me this
month is none other then the #1 Ticket Salesmen, Dennis Lopez.
Dennis may just be one of the most recognizable Angus
personalities in our industry and we’re proud to have him assist
us each year in getting every single ticket sold, keeping this
very special Western Angus event thriving.

or in turn acquire some great ones to add to your program.
Entries and information can be obtained through
Parnell/Dickinson. This year another special event is taking
place, the Western States Angus Auxiliary will be auctioning off
a special Angus heifer donated by the Rathbun Ranch in
Washington, this is a special opportunity to help out and get
something truly valuable in return.
