TORRINGTON,
WYOMING..... Memorial
services for DORIS Y. WILKES, 77, were held at 1pm on Saturday
January 17, 2009 at the Immanuel Church of Christ in Lyman,
Nebraska with the Reverend Doctor Robert Smith officiating.
Cremation has taken place. Doris died on January 13, 2009 at
Community Hospital. Doris
was born October 11, 1931 at Parker, Colorado, the daughter of
Perry J. and Inez (Renfro) Killough. The family moved to
Longmont, Colorado in 1947 and Doris graduated from Longmont
High School in 1949. On November 6, 1949 she married Donald
Wilkes at Longmont. Doris worked for Austin-Moody Angus Sales in
Longmont from 1960 to 1966 when the family moved to Hawk
Springs, Wyoming. She worked as a secretary at Black Watch Farms
at Hawk Springs until 1971 when they moved to Torrington. Doris
owned the Fashion Hut in Torrington. In 1974 they moved back to
Hawk Springs where she worked with her husband Donald on their
6-D Angus Ranch. She was the secretary for the Wyoming Angus
Association for several years. Doris loved her grandchildren and
was very involved with their lives. She enjoyed watching sports
and she also enjoyed following and debating politics.
She is survived by her husband, Don
Wilkes of Hawk Springs, WY., two sons, Donald Wilkes and his
wife Deb of Palmdale, CA., and Darrell L. Wilkes of Parker, CO.,
two daughters, Dee and her husband Mike Anderson of Lingle, WY.,
and Diana Guest of Hawk Springs, WY., two sisters, Jeanette
Davis of San Diego, CA., and Bonnie and her husband Pat Meyer of
Castle Rock, CO., 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Dane, great
grandson Jacob, son-in-law TC Guest, and one daughter-in-law,
Trish Wilkes. All of us at
Angus, The Magazine join the entire Angus Fraternity in
extending our deepest sympathy to the Wilkes family.
