Wild winter weather, cow numbers and
the cost of hay all contributed to a lighter than normal crowd at
this 57th edition of Idaho Angus Association’s Gem State Classic.
Cattle sold to five states with the volume buyer honors going to
Oneida Farms, Jerome, ID. The Champion Steer went to TLC Angus,
Bliss, ID selling at $1,100 to Terry Weber, Vale, OR. The Reserve
Grand Champion Steer honors went to B & B Livestock, New Plymouth,
ID selling at $925 to Ron Gill, Gooding, ID. New officers were
elected by the Idaho Angus Association for 2008-2009 and included
President Steve Herbst, Salmon, ID; Vice President Glenn Schutte,
Gooding, ID; Secretary - Treasurer Amber Gay, Jerome, ID; New
directors include Mark Frisbie, Melba, ID; Curtis Gay, Jerome, ID
and Arnold Callison, Blackfoot, ID. Over $3,500 was collected on
the donation heifer to the Idaho Angus Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
David Wiseman, Filer, ID won the heifer, donated her back and she
was purchased by Brian Borden, Rupert, ID. The heifer was donated
by Nicole Standal, Bliss, ID. The association must be commended on
another job well done.

crowd gathered for this 22nd Camas Prairie Angus Ranch Bull Sale.
Cattle were very well presented and sold at a rapid fire pace. The
Rylaarsdams of Camas Prairie Angus were joined by RB Cattle
Company, Ron and Janie Nirk, Potlatch, ID; Three Mile Angus,
Bruce, Marilyn and Sydney Schoo; Grangeville, ID and Crouthamel
Cattle Co., Cory Crouthamel, Touchet, WA in this 2008 production.
The hospitality put forth by the sale participants was superb.
Indeed a super event from super programs. A job well done.

Without
a doubt, the most active event the first 13 days of February. A
large crowd bid actively for this solid well presented offering.
Cattle sold to 28 buyers from Washington and Oregon. The open
heifers had three heifers at $1,200 sired by Baldridge Nebraska
901 and Sitz Alliance 6595. All sold to BoBo Cattle Company,
Othello, WA. The Correa family of Meadow Acres Angus were joined
by guest consignor Willy Bovard’s BoBo Cattle Company, Othello, WA
with a strong set of yearling bulls. The steak lunch sponsored by
Ordway Feedyards, Ordway, CO was well received and enjoyed by all.
Indeed a job well done by all.

A large
crowd assembled at the Copus Cove Arena near Buhl, ID to witness
the 1st Heritage Cattle Company Angus and Polled Hereford Bull
Sale. Cattle sold at a rapid fire pace to eight states. The cattle
were presented in top fashion and the facilities were superb. The
30 commercial females topped on five pairs selling at $1,300 each
to Jeff Mathie, Blackfoot, ID. Volume buyer honors went to Bill
Millencamp, Jerome, ID and Todd Poling Land and Cattle, Clayton,
NM. The hospitality was at a high level. John and Johanna Gomez,
Arlen Nelson and the entire Heritage crew must be commended on a
job well done. Ninety-seven bulls cataloged with 104 bulls
selling. An excellent day for this up and coming program.

house with buyers from three states witnessed a very solid set of
bulls raised for true cow country. Volume buyer honors went to
Marvin Casey, Denio, NV and Joe and Gay Cronin, Burns, OR. The
offering was presented in good condition and the hospitality was
superb. Everyone enjoyed the steak lunch prior to the event.
Joining Jerry and Judy Baker of Baker Angus was Mahler Cattle Co.,
Sam Mahler and family of Vale, OR. Many repeat customers again
putting their stamp of approval on the Baker program. Indeed a job
well done and tremendous value received for the dollar spent.
