Eugene A. George, M & G Angus of
Galt, CA passed away June 10, 2008, at the age of 72, following
a brief illness. He was born to Amel Andrew and Louise (Sforze)
George on December 17, 1935, in Canon City, CO.
In 1953, after graduation from Holy
Cross Abbey High School in Canon City, CO, his family moved to
California’s San Fernando Valley, where he attended Pierce
Junior College in Chatsworth. He was a member of the college
rodeo team.
In 1961, George and his family
moved to Galt and he began work in the construction business,
which would span 53 years. He was an owner, the
secretary-treasurer and general superintendent of F & H
Construction Company, Stockton, CA.
George loved to spend time on
his ranch, caring for his cattle and horses. He was a member of
the American Angus Association, Western States Angus Association
and enjoyed attending cattle shows, fairs and sales to purchase
champion livestock, especially loved attending the Red Bluff
Bull and Gelding Sale in Red Bluff and the National Western
Stock Show in Denver, CO.
He was also a member of the
Carpenter’s Union Local #25 in Manteca, and had served the
apprentice laborers consultant board. He was a past 4H leader
and continued to be a supporter of Oak View 4H, also a past
school board member of Oak View School and a member of St.
Anne’s Catholic Church, Lodi, CA.
George was preceded in death by
two sons, Michael Anthony and Steven Eugene. He is survived by
his wife Diane J. George; children, Michelle Louise (Mike)
Hansen, Mark Andrew (Anne) George and Cynthia Diane (Anthony)
Dennis; grandchildren, Shawnna George, Stephanie (Rudy) Miranda,
Joseph (Kayla) George, Brian George, Pvt. Normand Cormier, Cody
Barnard, Katie George, Cody Kavanaugh, Christine Kuehn and
Courtney Kuehm; and great-grandchildren, Marina Miranda and Ryan
George.
