A super day for Vintage Angus Ranch.
A good crowd. Super offering, great hospitality. Bulls sold at a
rapid fire pace to purebred breeders and leading commercial
ranchers from five states. Sons of many of the great donor females
at Vintage were actively sought after. Jim and Sue Coleman along
with manager Doug Worthington and Bull Marketing Manager Jason
Judge must be congratulated on a tremendous job having one of the
fall’s super events.

A huge crowd gathered to witness the
retirement celebration for Hal and Lois Schudel of Holiday Ranch
who earlier this spring sold their ranch, cattle and equipment to
Virgil Lovell’s Ankony program. A super strong event from the
beginning to the end. Cattle were presented in super form.
Everyone was treated like a king capped off with a super dinner
for all after the sale. Cattle sold across the land to a list of
who’s who in the Angus breed. Indeed our hats are off to Hal and
Lois Schudel for their tremendous contribution to the Angus breed
along with the super job done by Virgil Lovell and his Ankony team
of Tom Hill, Josh Mavencamp, Cody Chabot and Bill Bass. Guest
consignors Tom and Cara Ayres, Ayres Angus, Stevensville, MT also
added to the success of the day. A sale that will be the talk of
the Northwest for months to come.

Welcome rains hit central California
the day before the bull sale. Everyone’s spirits were up with the
much needed moisture. The bull sale joined with Turlock Livestock
Market’s special cow sale which together drew a full house. Bulls
sold at a very consistent basis. Strong demand for the low BEPD
and carcass divisions. The lunch was provided by American AgCredit
and each bull purchased received a 33 1/3 Diamond Protein and
energy block courtesy of Cargill Nutrition. Cattle sold at a rapid
pace. Mapes Ranch, Modesto, CA; Vargas Hay & Cattle, San Jose, CA;
Harry Serafin, Hollister, CA and Sloan Cattle Co., Los Banos, CA
each took five or more bulls. All bulls were sifted for soundness
by Lander Vet Clinic and graded by a committee consisting of Bill
Whitley, Greenfield, CA; Paul Hourett, La Grange, CA; Ralph Clark,
Plymouth, CA and Dick Hubman, Central Point, OR. The sale sold the
largest percentage of bulls offered as any sale this fall season.
Indeed a job well done.

Fabulous is the only word needed to
describe the day at Vintage Angus. A quality offering couple with
superb presentation along with super tabulations, EPDs, cow
families and the who’s who of the Angus world results in a banner
day. Yes, a 2.3 million plus gross. Cattle sold from coast to
coast and border to border. The Vintage hospitality was again at
an all time high. The tremendous tenderloin dinner Saturday night
drew a packed house. The whole event will indeed rank as one of
the true highlights of the Angus year. Congratulations to Jim and
Sue Coleman and family; manager Doug Worthington and the entire
Vintage crew. Our hats are off to one of the class events anywhere
in the beef industry.

A very light crowd gathered on a
cool, stormy day for the 2007 Western Supreme. Cattle sold to nine
states. Many juniors selected heifers in hopes of winning many of
the sale credits for the 2008 sale. Many good buys were made on
the second half of the offering. After several hundred Angus
female sold in Oregon over the past 21 days prior, it was quite
evident that a saturation of the market had occurred. Cattle were
presented in superb fashion and well received by those in
attendance.

Buyers from eleven states
aggressively took the 2007 Weaver Angus Farm offering. Strong
activity on the “Missie” cow family. The cattle were well
presented and the hospitality extended by the Weaver family was
superb. The 2007 calves were actively received with 27 averaging
over the $6,000 figure. Indeed a tremendous tribute to this super
program. |
