National Junior Angus Association (NJAA)
members from across the United States met at their annual meeting,
held during the 2007 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), July 1-7
in Tulsa, Okla.
Voting delegates elected six directors to serve a two-year term on
the NJAA board of directors. Officers beginning their second year
on the board were announced during the awards ceremony on July 6.
Justin Brosey, Hamilton, Ohio, will
serve as chairman. He is the son of Daniel and Pam Brosey and
attends Morehead State University. Andrew Foster, Niles, Mich.,
was elected vice chairman. He will attend Oklahoma State
University and is the son of Scott and Elaine Foster.
Kara Wilson, Orleans, Ind., will lead as the communications
director. She attends University of Kentucky, and is the daughter
of Loran and Kathy Wilson. Rebecca Tokach, Saint Anthony, N.D., is
the Foundation director. The daughter of Richard and Kathy Tokach,
she attends Kansas State University.
Joe Epperly, Moneta, Va., is the
leadership director. He is the son of Albert and Susan Epperly and
attends Virginia Tech. Dana May, Mineral Point, Wis., is the
membership director. She is the daughter of Gregg May and Cathy
Kaiser and attends the University of Wisconsin.
Candidates from nine states ran
for the six open positions on the board. Delegates cast their
ballots for six candidates after each submitted an application,
gave a presentation, answered impromptu questions and completed
round-table interviews. A brief biography of the newly elected
directors follows.
Ann Blumer is the daughter of Adam
and Nancy Blumer, Chesnee, S.C. She attends Millsaps College in
Jackson, Miss., where she majors in business administration and is
a member of the soccer team. Ann has been active in junior Angus
programs, serving on the South Carolina Junior Angus Association
board and attending LEAD (Leaders Engaged in Angus Development)
Conferences.
Brandon Creamer, Montrose, Colo.,
is the son of Jeff and Kathi Creamer. He recently attended
Northeastern Junior College for two years and will attend Colorado
State University this fall. Brandon is majoring in animal science
and ag business. He has exhibited his cattle nationally, and has
been active in the Colorado Junior Angus Association.
Trey Davis, Doerun, Ga., is the
son of Bart and Paula Davis. He is an agricultural business major
at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton Ga. He is active
on the Atlantic National Junior Council and is junior co-chair for
the 2009 NJAS in Perry, Ga. Trey is also current president of the
Georgia Junior Angus Association.
Bridget Driscoll, Williamsburg,
Iowa, is the daughter of Erle and Renee Driscoll. She is a student
at Iowa State University, where she majors in animal science with
an emphasis in beef production. She is involved in numerous
agricultural activities at school, and has participated in
countless contests at the NJAS, as well as attended LEAD for the
past five years.
Walt Stinson, Talbott, Tenn., is
attending Tennessee Tech University, where he is majoring in
pre-vet with plans of studying dentistry. He is the son of Robert
and Jan Stinson. Walt has been active in the Angus breed at
numerous levels, and has served in leadership roles within his
state association and on the Atlantic National Junior Council.
Mallory Trosper, Hamilton, Mo., is
the daughter of Steve and Sandy Trosper, and has been active in
junior Angus programs throughout her life. She attends the
University of Missouri, Columbia, where she is studying nursing.
Mallory is the current president of the Missouri Junior Angus
Association, and is a former Miss American Angus.
