The largest crowd in
many years gathered at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in
Turlock, CA to witness a very strong set of open heifers sell to
buyers from throughout the state. The donation heifer donated by
Schnoor Sisters, Chowchilla, CA sold at $2,000 to Sierra Meyers,
Madera, CA. All the proceeds from this generous donation went to
the California Junior Angus Association. Darrell Silveira,
Silveira Bros., Firebaugh, CA was honored at the 2006 California
Angus Days Banquet and annual meeting that was well attended. The
sale heifers who sold to junior members were shown the next
morning in the California Angus Days Calcutta. Judge of the event
was Brant Poe, College Station, Texas. His Grand Champion Calcutta

Midland. She was consigned by Pheasant Trek, Wilton, CA and had
sold to Wyatt Colburn, Visalia, CA who received $750 for his win.

A large crowd gathered
to witness cattle sell to 59 buyers from six states. The
temperature was mild, the demand was active and the results were
strong. Calving ease was certainly the word of the day.
Hospitality put forth by the Kast and Hooper families was, as
usual, top notch. Thiel Livestock, Nyssa, OR took the top
registered female in 101 Tamie L631, 9-5-01 by 101 Fame 4802 with
a 10-3-06 bull by 101 Grid Maker EM3 selling at $2,400. Zink
Family Partnership, Filer, ID paid $1,300 for the Commercial Bred
Heifers and took home all 50 of them at that figure. Volume bull
buying honors went to Cline Ranch, Sweet, ID; Curtis Dent,
Richmond, UT; and Peavey & Hoots, Deeth, NV; each taking 5 lots or
more. The cattle were well presented. Congratulations are in order
to both programs for a job well done.
